Returns
We will happily replace a damaged or defective item for store credit. Refunds and returns must be approved by our staff.
We are an outlet store. Generally speaking, unless prior arrangements have been made, items with red-tags, or supported by red signage are sales final.
For regular merchandise, within 30 days of purchase, you may return any of the items to Searchlight according to the following stipulations:
- All returned items must be accompanied by proof of purchase.
- Defective items will be replaced free of charge. Items that have not been cared for properly by the customer are not considered defective and will not be replaced or refunded.
- We will not credit for opened media products such as CDs or DVDs. If upon testing they are indeed found to be defective, we will replace with the same item.
- Returned media items must be in new condition with original packaging and accessories. We cannot accept returns of products missing the bar code or UPC. We require at least 24 hours after receiving the item to test the CD or DVDs. We will contact you within the next business day with our results, with the exception of busy periods or public holidays.
- Returns of regular price books are allowed only with a receipt if they are in resell-able shape. For example, books must not be dog-eared, bent, warped or stained. No names or inscriptions; these render the product sales-final.
- All product packaging materials – including boxes, manuals, warranty cards, and any other materials in the original shipment – must be returned with your merchandise.
Please not that we cannot refund or exchange opened items, items returned more that 30 days past delivery or items not accompanied by receipt or proof of purchase unless prior written permission has been given by our staff. We can only process returns and refunds for items purchased at Searchlight.
Important: Credit notes issued have no expiry but may be limited in category to book or non-book items. We often issue credit notes for the merchandise value only, the sales tax will self-adjust when redeemed. If you wish, the true value of the certificate can be noted on the bill, but this works better for us in a non-refund situation. If you return a book and wish to purchase a CD or gift item, the full 8% tax needs to be charged on the new category. This is normally done where the return and new purchase happen at the same time, otherwise we issue a category-specific (book or non-book) credit slip.
